Scientific activity

After completing the residency program in Neurosurgery, Dr. Filippo Gagliardi earned a PhD in Neuroscience at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan with a preclinical research project on the molecular characterization of glioblastoma-derived stem cells.

His scientific activity involves him in numerous clinical and preclinical research trials on brain tumors.

He is co-founder of the central nervous system tumor biobank at San Raffaele Hospital in Milan. Here, in addition to his clinical and surgical practice, he actively participates in numerous interdisciplinary research groups.

In the surgical field, he has completed numerous research projects as a Research Fellow at:

  • the Department of Neurosurgery at Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich, Germany).
  • the Department of Neurosurgery at George Washington University (Washington, DC, USA). He continues to collaborate with this institution on numerous research projects, including periodic on-site training internships.

Research

His research, aimed at developing innovative techniques for treating brain tumors, has earned him the international "Karl Fellowship Award" from the World Society of Skull Base Surgery.

He is the author of more than 80 scientific publications in international journals. He has written numerous chapters in neurosurgery textbooks published by international publishers and online journals.

In 2019, he published a book entitled "Operative Cranial Neurosurgical Anatomy," distributed worldwide by an American publisher.

By invitation and as an expert, he has given lectures, seminars, and courses at prestigious national and international universities, including Macquarie University (Sydney, NSW, Australia) and George Washington University (Washington, DC, USA).
