Education.
He graduated with honors in Medicine and Surgery at the University of Verona (2006); he was licensed as a medical surgeon at the University of Bologna (2006); and he specialized with honors in Neurosurgery at Vita-Salute San Raffaele University in Milan (2013). He passed the European Neurosurgery Exam at the "European Association of Neurosurgical Societies" (2011). He is currently a neurosurgeon serving as Consultant in the Neurosurgery Department of San Raffaele Hospital in Milan, where he specializes in degenerative and traumatic spinal diseases, tumors, and vascular diseases of the central nervous system, as well as stereotactic radiosurgery. He has performed more than 2,000 procedures.
Research.
He earned his PhD in Neuroscience at the International Doctoral School in Molecular Medicine at Vita-Salute University, San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan, where he conducts research on stem cells in brain tumors. He obtained the national scientific qualification as associate professor in Neurosurgery (2022). He is currently responsible for more than 10 international and national research projects funded by public and private institutions. He is the Study Director (DOS) of doctoral projects at the International Doctoral School in Molecular Medicine at Vita-Salute University, San Raffaele Scientific Institute in Milan. He won the international "Karl Storz" award (2012). He was research fellow at the Department of Neurosurgery of the Ludwig Maximilian University (Munich, Germany) and at the Department of Neurosurgery of the George Washington University (Washington DC, USA), with which he currently continues to collaborate on numerous research projects and also periodic training internships on site.
Teaching Activities.
He has been an invited member of the scientific committee of numerous international courses and meetings in Europe, the United States, and Australia. He has participated in more than 100 symposia as an author/speaker, or co-author of conference abstracts.
Publications.
He is the author of more than 100 scientific publications in international journals and more than 30 chapters in neurosurgery textbooks, published by international publishers and online journals. His H-index is 23 (Scopus) with more than 3,200 citations. He has given invited lectures and seminars at Italian and international universities, including Macquarie University (Sydney, NSW, Australia) and George Washington University (Washington DC, USA). In 2019, he published a book entitled "Operative Cranial Neurosurgical Anatomy," distributed worldwide by an American publisher.
